Originally called an Adam's Apple Martini, it was created in 1996 at Lola's West Hollywood restaurant.

Gained popularity in the 1990's on the television programme 'Sex and the City' where it was the drink of choice for Sarah Jessica Parker and her girlfriends!

Created in the early 1980's by bartender Dick Bradsel. According to Dick, a famous model entered the Soho Brasserie where he was working and asked him to create a drink that would "Wake me up!"
